The Synergy Health Center's 4th Annual Symposium
The fourth annual African American Mental Health Symposium (AAMHS) will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Western Michigan University College of Health and Human Services building in Kalamazoo, MI. and virtually via Webex.
The Symposium will provide a microscopic examination of the stigmas affecting African Americans in today’s society through a choice of 6 breakout sessions, 2 keynote speakers and a closing discussion. Social Work, Nursing, and McBAP CEUs are available.
The AAMHS is an event that creates a platform to bring awareness to businesses, professionals, educators, advocators, clergy, individuals, family members, and consumers nationwide that will illuminate the mental health experiences of the black culture. The event will create opportunities for greater discussion on current racial issues, provide culturally relevant and competent mental health training, explore ways to navigate through systematic racism as its traumatic impact on the black culture, and offer systems of care, help people to get the best and support and advocacy.
